Jack and Emma's Wordle Adventure :D

1 comment:

  1. When looking at this Wordle, I notice the two biggest words are "Children" and "Death". I decided that I'll split this comment into two parts, one for each of the words.

Children: The words I used in collaboration with children were mischief, malignant spirit, and accidents. Clearly I have Pearl in mind here. The most important thing to note about Pearl is how often she is compared to an imp or an impish creature. Imps are mythological creatures that are known for their acts of mischief and trickery, which relates to Pearl's behavior. For malignant spirit, Pearl is also often talked about as a demon child, as said when Hawthorne writes, "It was as if an evil spirit possessed the child," (Hawthorne 87). Accidents relates obviously because Pearl was never meant to be brought into existence, and was a product of an affair.

Death: When I thought of death, I didn't think about Chillingworth's supposed death, but instead of the death of Hester's mentality. The other words that tie in are misery, guilty, and suffering. After the affair, Hester loses all hope in herself. (Couldn't find the quote, but it's something like this) Hester was the symbol of all the bad things a woman could do. Hester is constantly guilty about what she did and suffers from it. She even says that the sunshine that shines down on her is wasted sunshine, like she didn't deserve something as basic as sunshine.
